3 Aspects of Academic Performance in childhood

High Academic performance is linked to the high success of individual life. Every Child tries to get high academic performance in his career. School and parents constantly help the children to achieve the academic goals. Unfortunately, Ordinary people believe that academic performance only relates to getting high grade/marks in the examinations. It is well recognized that achieving excellent marks/grade is one of the important indicators of academic performance along with two other essential factors.

What is Academic Performance?

It is the crucial task to define academic performance.  The comprehensive definition of academic performance includes three factors (a) academic achievement (b) positive behavior (c) Skill development.[1]
This definition includes three important factors.  Exploration of these three factors is necessary for the better understanding of academic performance.

 What is Academic Achievement

 Academic achievement includes class grade, test score, graduation rates, and standardized test.  It can be measured by seeing the student’s annual or monthly assessment reports/result card.

 What is the Development of Positive Behavior

Child behavior defined as a term (child behavior) has been used to describe the” intensity of particular moods, the susceptibility to emotional situations and the strength and speed of response (Allport, 1961)”.
It is the parental and institutional responsibility to develop positive behavior in children. It is well recognized that the development of behavior is an essential part of the academic performance. Academic behavior includes attendance, discipline and completing homework. The Teacher and parents must teach the children how they react in different situations.

 What  is the Skill Development

The skill is “the ability, coming from one's knowledge, practice, aptitude, etc., to do something well” (Skill, 2014, June 26).  The student must possess several essential abilities/ skills such as cognitive or non-cognitive skills. School/parents should focus on the development of skills in children. [2]

This definition of academic performance provides the foundations of success in professional life.  These factors also provide the tool to measure the children educational performance in every part of life. Parents can measure child academic progress by measuring these three factors.
