How to Develop the Learning Skills in Early Childhood?

 Skill development is one of the important purposes of early childhood education.  There is a strong association between academic achievement and skill development.   The school policies and parent’s care strategies must focus on skill development in early childhood. 

Why skill development is important?

Skill development supports the children in the success of acaacademic achievement and as well as in social life. child gain strength and confidence in learning activities. skill development has had a massive positive impact on child academic outcome, health, social well-being, and self-management.

 3 Factors of Skill Development

 There are three effective factors for promoting skills. The following factors play an important role in the development of skills in childhood. 

  • Family

The families play a significant role in the development of skills early childhood. Parents coaching policies help to develop the primary skills.  Families should make effective strategies that can improve the skills in early childhood.

  • School

School prepares the child for the success in real life. School environment and well-educated teachers have had great effects on child behavior and skills. Researchers indicate that schooling is the key factor in skill development.


  • Society

Societal environments play a key role in shaping valuable skills in children. The child learns from society and neighbors.  It is the social responsibility of the community to provide a high-quality environment which helps to promote the positive skills in children.

How to Improve the skills in the Early Childhood? 

Skill development is the primary responsibility of Parents and school. Parents and teachers must follow the following ways to develop skills in children.

  •  Improve the Numerical Thinking (Mathematical Concepts)


Numerical thinking begins to develop at the early age of the child. Children start to understand the language of numbers when they start to recognize the numbers, concept of big and small and quantity differences. The basic mathematical concepts must be clear in early childhood.

  • Promote Creative Thinking

Parent and teachers must provide opportunities to develop critical thinking. Critical thinking includes the analyzing opinion, making decisions and solving problem skills.  Critical thinking involves in both cognitive and non-cognitive skills.

  •   Look at the Ability of Child

Parents and school must know the ability of the child. The learning activities should meet the need and capability of the child. The parents should select a suitable curriculum and program which meet the interest and capability of a child.   Skill development strategies must well-matched with the ability of a child.

  •   Physical Activities

 The physical activities help to improve the cognitive and non-cognitive skill in early childhood. The play is not just a fun and game but play a key role in the development of the brain. The child learns experimentation, exploration, and co-operation through play. Play helps to develop much skill.

  •  Hair the Qualify Teachers

The professional and experienced teacher is necessary for the academic achievements and skills developments.  The best teacher provides the best citizen for society.  Parents and school must attain the highly qualified teachers for the betterment of the students.

  • Provoke the Interest of the Child

Parents and teachers should provoke the interest of the child. They should try to respect the child interest in the process of skill development.

  • Encourage the exploration and inquiry

The parents and teachers must provide opportunities to explore things and ideas. parents encourage the children when they want to ask questions. Facilitate the child when he tries to create new ideas and explorations.

  • Change the Strategies with the age of the child

 It is important to understand that child’s interest and level of understating change with the passage of time. Parents should apply new strategies to support their children for the gaining better achievement of their performance.  

  • Provide the Opportunities for Build up Independent Thinking

 Independent thinking skill builds a successful and productive life. Families and schools create the opportunity to build up independent thought in early childhood. Let the child develop his own ideas and thinking. 

  • Quality communication with the child

 Quality communication between child and parents help to improve the self-confidence self-steam and many other social skills.

The skill development is necessary for the child academic and social outcome. Parents and school must provide the appropriate opportunity to develop the skill in early childhood.
